A rare local match against Durham Johnstone was an interesting battle for the U16s. The hosts were both experienced rugby players and talented athletes. Playing on their home ground in hot conditions Barney never really clicked and we exchanged scores to readily in the first half. A focus to improve our tackling and to kick behind led to greater success however, there was still a lack of accuracy at times as we were penalised consistently for being offside by the referee. This didn’t effect the overall result, it was good to see some creativity from our backline to score some excellent tries and also good to have the likes of Arnold and Metcalf involved for the first time in the season.
