Match Report
Barnard Castle School Boys-U15A vs  RGS, Newcastle
On: Saturday, 11 May 2024
Venue: at Home

On a glorious day Barney faced RGS Newcastle at home. Losing the toss Barney took the field with intent and bowled a consistent line and length that kept the first 4 overs tight and scoring opportunities few and far between. Calvert and Dickson created pressure with their bowling and their teammates ably backed them up with some committed and sharp fielding. with one opener removed cheaply the home team were in the ascendance. However, momentum swung when change bowlers were called upon and some costly overs allowed RGS to start scoring boundaries. Chances came and went in the field and several mistakes crept into our catching and ground fielding. It was not until the opening bowlers were bowled out in the middle overs that a useful partnership by RGS was broken. Coggrave then stepped up and under his consistent bowling spell the side took a further 4 wickets through 3 run outs and a bowled delivery. Barwick, Caux and Hunton supported the bowling and the innings ended with RGS scoring 102 for 7 wickets.

Inreply Barney batters knowing that sticking in and valuing our wickets would see an achievable chase of only 5 runs an over. As ever Barwick and Hunton opened with their trademark intent and got the side off to a flier.
