Matches against Durham are traditionally hard fought affairs and our second Friday night lights game at the Darlington Mowden Park Arena was no exception to the rule. The squad battled hard throughout the game but there was an all to common feel to this performance when the side let our opponents score 2 early converted tries through our own silly mistakes. A further 2 tries, one of which was converted, were the result of weak tackling. A try by Josiai meant it was a nineteen point deficit at halftime. The boys fought back in the second half as a result of the ball being moved wider earlier, retained and embodying a greater desire to work hard. However, Haywards try from short range was matched by Durham unconverted try. Bitter disappointment for the group but their achilles heal was yet again key decisions being poorly made and key tackles missed.
